Worst gift idea

‘Men: This is the worst shopping tip I’ve ever seen. DO NOT buy women processed meat for Christmas!’

Even I know better than this.

Wolf France

The incredible Chelsea Wolfe – local recording artist and vocal phenom – has the opportunity of touring France this coming March. All tied around the vinyl release of her new album, The Grime and the Glow.

As anyone in the music industry knows, the musicians aren’t the rich ones – and Chelsea is hoping to raise enough money to cover her travel costs. A small donation will help; anything over five bucks will snag you a parcel of personalized album artwork and never-released songs.

My wedding mix tape

Today is my 15th Wedding Anniversary.

And on December 9, 1995, Jeanne and I got married in my cousins’ living room in Half Moon Bay, CA. And as part of the show, our favors were mix tapes copied on to genuine cassettes.

Not CDs. The technology – and price – just wasn’t there yet. It was 1995. So instead, we gave out a unique cassette offering that took a whole month to prep. [Read more →]

Anti-American Manifesto: The other shoe drops

My dad – a decorated United States veteran – died in 2006. In his last days, he was questioning what happened to the country he fought for in WWII. He was appalled at what was going on – and wondered if it were all worth it.

He said we need a revolution. And Tedd Rall is a cartoonist who is now saying just that. This is his new book. Clip from a talk below.

‘Millennials’ strike back

‘Millennials: In ur coffeeshop stealin ur wireless’

Millennials have been labeled as ‘hapless, jobless lollygaggers’ – cause our media loves to sum things up using really old buzzwords.

Tho as someone who teaches at the college level – I see something else entirely. Overstimulated kids who’ve been thrown in to a world that doesn’t quite make sense. A world they’re gonna have to figure out.

Cause the older kids broke it for them.

21-year-old Kyle Chayka’s Millennials magazine takes issue with the media labels, and brings a much-needed point of view. Visit the Millennials website/blog here.
