Obituary

Aged 82.

Beloved husband of 49 years to Dorothy, adored father of Steve and daughter-in-law, Jeanne.

Son of the late Mike and Mary (Kitchka) Mihalov, also survived by brothers George of Hazleton, PA, John and Andy of Tampa, FL, Joe and wife Ann of Lorain, OH, Pete of New Jersey; sisters Mary Yenchko of Venice, FL and Susan, wife of Joe Pacelli, of Hazleton, PA; and many nieces and nephews.

Born July 28, 1923, Mike passed peacefully in his sleep on the morning of July 3, 2006. Mike lived a very full life, a hard worker and yet always one to tell a good joke and play a prank.

He proudly served his country as a highly decorated officer of the Merchant Marines during active duty in WWII, Korea and Vietnam.

After leaving the military, Mike owned a hardware store in San Francisco, which evolved into an organic herb gardening business.

Later in life, he worked as a nurse and in-home aide, and often had the odd “luck” for being at the right place at the right time and found himself fighting a few fires and saving some lives.

A devout Catholic, Mike was a true Christian who felt his strong beliefs kept him out of harm’s way.

After his travels, Mike decided to settle down in the San Francisco area (where he won his first home in a poker game) and so upon their marriage Mike and Dorothy moved from their hometown of Hazleton, PA to San Bruno, CA where they resided for 44 years before moving to Roseville, CA.

Mike’s ashes are housed in the Veteran’s Memorial at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, 1701 Verner Avenue, Citrus Heights, CA 95841
