{"id":18040,"date":"2010-07-02T09:47:38","date_gmt":"2010-07-02T16:47:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mehallo.com\/blog\/?p=18040"},"modified":"2011-07-23T17:51:32","modified_gmt":"2011-07-24T00:51:32","slug":"its-typography-the-film","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/mehallo.com\/blog\/archives\/18040","title":{"rendered":"It&#8217;s Typography: film, song and dance"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"400\" height=\"255\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/A8jq6AFTaC4\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><em>&#8216;Baskerville, a bad asskerville&#8217;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>This spring, my Digital Typography students set out to make a short film about type history.<\/p>\n<p>The class &#8211; held at The Art Institute of California Sacramento &#8211; was set up like a working design studio &#8211; with myself as &#8216;hands off creative director.&#8217; All students had a role, from art direction to project management, web design, editing and production.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.itstypography.com\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/mehallo.com\/B\/It'sTypography_4.jpg\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>At one point, songsmith John Slingerland threw a party at his home &#8211; and invited a few unwitting guests &#8211; just to record the background vocals for the film&#8217;s <em>gets stuck in your head<\/em> musical number.<\/p>\n<p>And, featured in the credits, a very early beta version of <a href=\"http:\/\/mehallo.com\/blog\/archives\/18271\" target=\"_blank\"> Jeanne Texte<\/a> &#8211; which I had to prep for them as <em>my<\/em> homework assignment.<\/p>\n<p>It was a fun quarter; this was a great team to work with, their enthusiasm snagged everyone in their handmade typographic web.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.itstypography.com\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/mehallo.com\/B\/It'sTypography_PosterMichelle.jpg\" width=\"330\"><\/a><\/p>\n\r\n\t<div style=\"float: left; \">\r\n\t\t<a href=\"http:\/\/twitter.com\/share\" class=\"twitter-share-button\" data-count=\"horizontal\" data-text=\"It's Typography: film, song and dance\" data-url=\"http:\/\/mehallo.com\/blog\/archives\/18040\"  data-via=\"mehallo\">Tweet<\/a>\r\n\t<\/div>\r\n\t<script type=\"text\/javascript\" src=\"http:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\"><\/script>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&#8216;Baskerville, a bad asskerville&#8217; This spring, my Digital Typography students set out to make a short film about type history.
